Thank you to everyone who came together Sunday, September 20 to demonstrate that no one has to face dementia alone.

People living with dementia, caregivers and families walked together yesterday at the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County’s 30th Walk for Dementia.

This year’s milestone anniversary was made possible by the tremendous efforts of our staff, a host of enthusiastic volunteers, and of course the steadfast support of our sponsors, including Integracare, presenting sponsor of this year’s Walk for Dementia.

Integracare, an in-home care service with specialized dementia care, showcased our Memory Lane installation, a look-back on the Walk’s beginnings in the 1990s. As they have since the beginning, Bakertilly Ottawa were present supporting with registration and good vibes! As emcee, Sam Laprade shepherded the event with style and grace.

There was United Airlines Miles of Memories lounge (and ticket auction), a Healthy Habits Hub, a kid fun zone, and a table presenting the Dementia Society’s programs and services, food and refreshments and many other activities.

The event was capped off with Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe proclaiming September 20, 2026 Walk for Dementia Day. He also took a moment to add a daisy to our beautiful tribute wall, which will now be a fixture in our Dementia Society Centre.

Every dollar stays here in Ottawa and Renfrew County and goes toward dementia care coaching and social, recreational and educational programs tailored to support caregivers and people living with dementia.
